Mourning for a pioneer of the SC Oberweikertshofen

FC Bayern and SC Oberweikertshofen (SCO) - these were Hans Huber's clubs.

For one, he was a loyal fan for decades. For the other, he was one of the engines that turned a small group of football enthusiasts into a well-equipped sports club with eight departments and 1200 members.

Now Hans Huber has died at the age of 74.

Poigern - The farmer's son, born in September 1946, was barely 15 when the SCO was founded in the summer of 1961.

But he was actively involved right from the start and, together with his father and brothers, did some development work.

At that time, Huber's father provided the ground for the first sports field and thus created the prerequisites for regular gaming in the first place.

Commitment, helpfulness and sociability - Hans Huber brought the three essential attributes for voluntary work with him.

For a long time he was a member of the SCO board.

The construction of the new sports home fell in his era in 1985 - a milestone with which the SCO brought its changing rooms and sanitary facilities up to date.

In addition, with the forest restaurant integrated in the clubhouse, a social meeting point was created for the people of Oberweikertshofer - and not just for the sports fans among them.

Professionally, the path seemed to be mapped out.

The elementary school would have been followed by work in agriculture, whereby Hans Huber, the third of six children, was not intended to take over the parental farm.

After completing an agricultural apprenticeship and military service, he trained as an engineer for agriculture and started at Volksbank in 1971.

Since she had many customers from the agricultural sector, she was happy to hire people with the appropriate background.

Things quickly improved for Hans Huber - after only two years he took over the management of the Grafrath branch.

He later switched to the Sparkasse, where he was the face of the bank as branch manager in Maisach for many years.

As an open, sociable person, he especially liked the customer contact.

“The work suited him very well,” says his wife Marianne, with whom Huber was married for 46 years.

In local politics, the father of three sons was involved as a community and district councilor for the CSU, on whose district executive he was represented for two decades.

In addition to work, family and honorary posts, Huber liked to organize bicycle trips or city trips that he went on with friends.

He preferred to head for destinations in Germany and Austria - and every six months he went to South Tyrol.

The grandfather of seven grandchildren still had many plans, but a bad diagnosis last summer thwarted them.

He watched the arrival of his youngest granddaughter in October with great joy, but in the months that followed his strength visibly waned.
