Groebenzell - The Groebenzell municipal council has increased the rents in the house at Kirchenstrasse 12.

The municipality had acquired the building, erected in 1962, with the right of first refusal.

Many people know it: drugstore items are sold on the ground floor, and three apartments are located above.

After two tenants had given notice, the council had a new calculation.

The majority decision: In future, nine euros per square meter will have to be paid for all three apartments.

Before that, the rent was different.

The remaining tenant now has to pay 48 cents more per square meter - he has a total of 63 square meters.

The rent for this apartment was last increased in 2010.

The new tenants have to dig much deeper into their pockets than before for the other two apartments (both just under 86 square meters).

So far, the rent has been 3.66 euros or 7.23 euros per square meter.

The last adjustment took place here in 2002.

Peter Falk (SPD) fought vigorously: "It is not the time for rent increases." That would artificially increase the overall level.

He said that the city of Dachau was charging less than seven euros per square meter.

However, Falk failed with his application against the increase.

Ursula Retz (Greens) suggested asking 8.52 euros per square meter for the two new apartments to be rented, this rent had to be paid for the apartment that was still occupied.

That also failed.

The majority (16:12 votes) were in favor of Helmut Berger's (UWG) proposal to charge nine euros per square meter of rent for all three apartments.

“The apartments are in a prime location,” he argued.

Karin Spangenberg (UWG), who had inspected the apartments on Kirchenstrasse, was enthusiastic about their condition.

"I would move in there immediately," she enthused.
