Mr. Dahmen, the infections haven't been falling for a while.
Is this already the third wave?
Dahmen:
We are at the beginning of a third wave.
On the national German average, the seven-day incidence has increased slightly for several days.
But we have even more information: The mutant spreads with an R value of around 1.3, while the old variant had around 0.8 to 0.9 in January.

Janosch Dahmen
, born in 1981, studied medicine, has been a member of the Bundestag for the Greens since November 2020.

The German figures are completely identical to those from other European countries.

Under these circumstances, do we have time to observe the number of infections?
Dahmen:
Crisis management measures only work if they are implemented quickly, decisively and in a targeted manner.
We are at the beginning of a third wave and know from the previous two how fast the curve can climb.
Measures also lose their effectiveness: What is now sufficient to stop exponential growth will no longer be enough in a few weeks.
We would therefore be well advised to take steps to improve protection now.
