An antiques collector made more than $ 300,000 for a small china pot that he bought for only $ 35 from a flea market in Connecticut, USA.
Euronews reported that the Sotheby's auction house in London organized an auction in which it offered a small pot of Chinese porcelain whose price ranged between 300 and 500 thousand dollars after it discovered that it is a very rare class of vessels as there are only 6 other similar models in the world.
Angela McCater, head of the Chinese arts department at the house, explained that the artifact dates back to the fifteenth century, as its decorations were specially painted for the court of Emperor Yongle, the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty, which gave it a very distinctive shape due to its delicate floral decoration.
Macatire pointed out that 5 of the 6 vessels are preserved in museums, including two in China, two in London and one in Tehran, while the sixth was last seen in the market in 2007.
She expected that the auction, which will be held on the 17th of March, will be of interest to collectors of rare antiques and antiques, noting that many Chinese art pieces reached a number of countries in the world in the nineteenth century, but the manner of their arrival and transmission over the generations is not documented.
