Scientists have warned of the possibility of a large volcanic eruption in Iceland, which was hit by more than 17,000 light to moderate earthquakes last week.
The American CNN reported that Iceland is accustomed to accidental earthquakes, but last week, with what it witnessed of more than 17,000 earthquakes in the southwestern Reykjanes region, "it was not normal at all."
The strength of the largest quake reached 5.6 degrees on the Richter scale on the 24th of last February, and another earthquake of 5 degrees occurred on the 27th of the same month and another on the first of this March.
The intense tremors caused minor damage, including minor cracks, in some roads and rocks.
