The legal and political offensive against the AfD continues.
Accused of anti-democratic aims, the far-right German party has been placed under police surveillance by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the equivalent of internal intelligence.
Its communications could be intercepted and informants introduced into its ranks.
This decision is "
scandalous
", denounced the Alternative for Germany which fears first of all the electoral consequences.
It follows the identical approach targeting last year the most radical branch of the party, Der Flügel, as well as the conspiracy movement Querdenken, which has become a refuge for many of its militants.
Only the deputies and the AfD candidates for the upcoming elections will remain safe from “big ears”.
