Karachi case: Edouard Balladur released, François Léotard sentenced to two years in prison

More than 25 years after the events, the former prime minister was on trial alongside his former defense minister for suspicion of secret financing of his unfortunate presidential campaign in 1995.


Former Prime Minister Édouard Balladur was released Thursday by the Court of Justice of the Republic, which tried him for suspicion of hidden financing of his unfortunate presidential campaign of 1995, one of the aspects of the Karachi affair.

Its former Minister of Defense François Léotard was sentenced to two years' suspended imprisonment and a 100,000 euros fine for "

complicity
