Prince Philip, the husband of 99-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, underwent a medical procedure on Wednesday for a heart condition, Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Duke of Edinburgh underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition yesterday at St Bartholomew Hospital," the statement read.
"His Royal Highness will remain in the hospital for treatment, rest and recovery for several days."
