The 14,000 Parisian students must now draw from a first list of five high schools attached to their sector college. This reform intends to promote diversity, but restricts the choices, according to parents.


Upheaval or modification at the margin?

Affelnet, the system for assigning Parisian college students to high school has recently been given a facelift, leaving parents perplexed, even exasperated.

Third grade students are always ranked according to their grades.

There remains a bonus for scholarship holders and another for those who have completed their education in a less favored college.

On the other hand, this year we are forgetting the four sectors (North, East, South and West) in which college students could apply depending on their place of residence.

Students must now draw from a first list of five high schools attached to their sector college, which earns a maximum of points.

Students from Chaptal College in the 17th arrondissement will therefore have priority access to Carnot, Chaptal, Jules-Ferry, Edgard-Quinet and Jacques-Decour, all located less than twenty-five minutes away by transport.

Theoretically, this is a mix of high schools of very good level, average level and more
