The figures for 2020, which have just been published by the Federation of real estate developers (FPI), confirm this.
Containment, severe at the start of the year and more flexible at the end of the year, had a heavy impact on construction starts.
While apartment buildings, which correspond to the bulk of developers' activity, recorded a reasonable drop of 6.4%, building permits fell by 17.1%.
Sales of new homes collapsed 23.3% over one year, to just over 128,000 units.
"We have lost 40,000 homes in one year"
, specifies the president of the FPI, Alexandra François-Cuxac.
