Thomas Andrews, the UN special rapporteur on Burma on Thursday, March 4 asked the Security Council for the establishment of a "
global arms embargo
" against Burma, as well as targeted international sanctions .

In a report published Thursday, this independent expert, Thomas Andrews, who is mandated by the UN Human Rights Council, points out that “
even if the future of Burma is determined by its people, the international community must act urgently and decisively to support it
”.
