The Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle East and Africa Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, during his meeting with the advisor to the Lebanese President, Amal Abu Zeid, renewed Moscow's firm support for Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
"During the conversation, there was an in-depth exchange of views on developments in the situation in Lebanon and the importance of intensifying efforts to form a new Lebanese government and overcome the political, social and economic crisis in this country," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today.
According to the statement, Bogdanov renewed Russia's firm support for Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, and "the right of the Lebanese to make decisions on all issues of the national agenda independently and without outside interference on the basis of constructive dialogue and mutual consideration of legitimate interests."
