Alcohol consumption is prohibited from Friday March 5 in Paris on the quays of the Seine and the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin, theaters last weekend of popular gatherings hardly compatible with the fight against the Covid, announced the prefecture of police (PP).

The health situation in Paris remains particularly sensitive with an active circulation of the virus and a very strong pressure on the hospital system
", recalled the PP in a
press
release, detailing several measures to "
slow down the circulation of the virus by avoiding groupings of people in public spaces, without limiting the freedom to come and go during the day
”.
Until then limited to two streets, the ban on alcohol consumption between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm is extended until March 21 "
to places in which groups of people who do not respect barrier gestures have been observed
", a the prefecture continued.
This concerns the banks of the Seine, where many Parisians have flocked in search of sun, but also many squares and streets throughout Paris.
The Esplanade des Invalides, the rue des Martyrs or the Canal Saint-Martin.
In addition, non-food stores and shopping centers of more than 10,000 m2 are closed to the public in the capital.
Some 4,400 police officers will be mobilized this weekend "
to maintain a high level of control over compliance with barrier gestures on the most frequented Parisian sites, the curfew rules from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and respect by shops of the gauges of customers
”, indicated the prefecture.

If the police find groups of people in which the respect of barrier gestures can not be guaranteed (...) they are instructed to proceed with their evacuation,
