Bad Tölz / Grän - A serious accident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Allgäu Alps.

A 34-year-old mountaineer from the Bad Tölz district died near the Austrian community of Grän.

As the police announced, the woman was on a mountain tour in the direction of Aggenstein.

The mountain is located on the German-Austrian border and near the Austrian town of Grän in the Reutte district.

The 34-year-old was reportedly also with crampons, so it can be assumed that she was not an inexperienced mountaineer.

But how it came to the accident is still unclear.

According to initial findings, the woman was at an altitude of around 1,830 meters, above the Kissinger hut, when she fell.

Only in the afternoon did another hiker find the victim.

At this point, however, the young woman from Tölz was already dead. A police helicopter then brought the body down to the valley to Grän.

The question of why the woman fell is now the subject of a police investigation.
