Frontex, the agency responsible for helping Member States monitor the EU's external borders, has it covered or participated in "pushbacks" in the Aegean Sea, that is, illegal pushbacks of asylum seekers from Greek waters to Turkey?
This question was on the menu on Friday for an extraordinary meeting of the agency's board of directors.
In view of the content of the final report presented on Friday, the answer is not straightforward.

At the end of January, the working group responsible for this report had established that the agency had acted in a legal manner for 8 of the 13 incidents analyzed.
On the other hand, work had to continue on the 5 other incidents, due to information deemed insufficient.
In their final report, the authors believe that
"it was not possible to completely resolve these incidents beyond a reasonable doubt".
Translation: the elements transmitted still do not make it possible to demonstrate that Frontex acted illegally but they do not prove
