Greater Paris: justice validates the resumption of ticket sales on board RATP buses

The summary filed by the CGT-RATP to oppose the resumption of the sale of tickets on board buses was rejected by the courts on Friday

“How can a judge validate a decision that increases the risk of contamination?”

The CGT representatives of the RATP machinists did not hide their disappointment, this Friday, at the exit of the Paris court.

The union, which had summoned the RATP to oppose the decision to resume the sale of tickets on board the buses, was dismissed of its request.

Machinists are indeed required to sell tickets to travelers who request them.

This possibility was removed last spring, at the start of the health crisis, to strengthen barrier measures.

In October, the management had tried to put in place this method of direct sale, provided for in the contractual obligations imposed by Ile-de-France Mobilités ... before reversing in the face of union discontent.

On-board ticket sales were finally restored in mid-February, leading to some major changes in the buses.

The plexiglass plates separating the driver from the travelers that had been fitted at the start of the pandemic have been removed.

And for three weeks, the rise of users is done again through the two front half-doors of the buses.

"This increases the risks of exposure to Covid for colleagues", a trade unionist wonders, recalling that the labor inspectorate reads the file the same way.

In a letter of February 8, this administration severely criticized the decision to remove the plexiglass windows.

"It is likely to expose drivers to an increased risk of contamination", indicated the labor inspectorate.

Contacted, the management of the RATP did not wish to comment on the rejection of the union summary.

At the Régie, however, it is recalled that the sale of tickets on the buses represents barely more than 1% of total sales.

For its part, the CGT-RATP indicates that an appeal will be filed next week.

“In the meantime, we are resuming ticket sales on board.

We have no choice, if we want to avoid disciplinary sanctions, ”notes a frustrated machinist.
