(CNN Spanish) -

Regarding the political crisis in Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, the opposition leader of that country, was on CNN in Spanish's World Panorama to analyze the migration issues of Venezuelans, the relationship with the Biden administration, the sanctions against the government of the questioned president Nicolás Maduro and the expulsion of the ambassador of the European Union in the country.

Guaidó, recognized as interim president by the United States and several other countries, said in conversation with María Alejandra Requena that Venezuela is going through a dictatorship and that "multilateral pressure" is key to recovering democracy.

«Venezuela is going through a dictatorship.

The government of Joe Biden pointed it out today, they have done so since 2015. Today Maduro protects terrorists in Venezuela, he has tortured thousands of Venezuelans for which today he is accused of crimes against humanity both in the International Criminal Court and also by the Independent Mission of the United Nations.

It is the dictatorship that attacks the people of Venezuela, "said Guaidó.

And he added that “the decisive role at this time to recover democracy in Venezuela has to do with that multilateral pressure referred to today by the Biden administration, which I was able to talk with Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

But that the European Union also exercised a week ago because the dictatorship undermines, kidnaps, not only Venezuelans but also the possibility of choosing.

A free election is what Venezuela is demanding today.

However, he explained that in addition to the "multilateral pressure" there is a need for mobilization "of the people of Venezuela, as has been constant in the last 15 years demanding democracy."

In that sense, it is not an "isolated action."

«It is not an isolated action that is going to recover democracy in our country.

They have been years of building capacities, they have been years of building majorities, of having won Parliament, of having made the crisis in Venezuela visible, of having denounced and resisted torture, persecution, censorship, "he said.

According to UN figures, more than 5 and a half million Venezuelans have left the country.

Faced with this situation, Guaidó argued that "the migration crisis is a global crisis."

In this sense, he highlighted the work of the President of Colombia Iván Duque "in implementing temporary protection for Venezuelan refugees in Colombia."

In addition to "the initiative in the US to protect refugees, a population product of a dictatorship.

I want to draw attention here in addition to the pandemic, to the situation in Venezuela and in the region.

The call is to include.

And he added: «It has been shown many times that the country receiving migration always ends up benefiting in the medium term.

We also collaborate with the origin of this tragedy in the region and therefore again highlight the work of Colombia and President Duque.
