The global air transportation data giant, SITA, has confirmed that the company was a hacking incident involving the leakage of passenger data.
It issued a statement on March 4 stating that a large amount of passenger data stored on servers in the United States had been leaked.
Its system was attacked on February 24 and the affected airlines have been contacted.
SITA, one of the world's largest aviation information technology companies, serves more than 90% of airlines, assisting them in air ticket booking, ticketing, and handling aircraft departure matters through its passenger service system Horizon.
The leaked data is stored on the servers of SITA Passenger Service System (US) Inc. (SITA Passenger Service System (US) Inc.).
This is referred to as the SITA PSS system, which operates a passenger review system for airlines.
The company said that after confirming the severity of the incident on February 24, it immediately acted to contact the affected customers and all relevant agencies.
SITA has started to contact
Malaysia Airlines, Finnair, Singapore Airlines and Jeju Air.
