Kwong Wah Hospital announced that the deceased went to the Kwong Wah Hospital Specialist Clinic for follow-up consultation on the afternoon of February 26. At about 3 pm, the hospital escorted the patient to the emergency department according to the established procedures.
From 4 to 6 pm, medical staff performed diagnosis and required examinations for him, and then arranged patients to wait for beds in the medical ward in the waiting area.
The patient was awake and stable, and was accompanied by a relative.
While the patient is waiting in the emergency room, the hospital has been providing care for him.

By 10:30 in the evening, the medical staff was preparing to transfer the patient to the ward, but the staff called in the waiting area, called the patient's name through the broadcast system, and called the patient, but they could not find the patient.
At nearly 2 am the next day (February 27), the medical staff called the patient again through the broadcast system, but the patient did not respond.
Nearly 5 am, medical staff found the patient unconscious and no pulse on the gurney in the waiting area of the emergency room.
The hospital immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and notified the patient's family members. The patient died at 5:17 in the morning.
The hospital expressed its great concern about the incident and reminded A&E staff to strengthen monitoring of patients waiting to be admitted. It has also notified the Head Office of the Hospital Authority through the early incident notification system, and will set up an investigation committee to review the incident and make suggestions for improvement, and Submit a report to the Head Office of the Hospital Authority.
The case has been referred to the coroner for follow-up.
