Organized child care can take several forms. Crèche, kindergarten and after-school care center make up the group of day-care facilities. Holzkirchen -

What kind of childcare is best for the family?

Parents in Holzkirchen can choose from a wide range.

Lunch care, which is open to all primary school students, is becoming increasingly popular.

The Caritas Center Miesbach operates eight groups, six of them in the building of the Quirin-Regel-Grundschule (Probst-Sigl-Straße).

A second location opened in the center of the village in autumn 2020: The market community provided rooms for this in the Brunnenhof (Marktplatz 18e).

"Because of its easy accessibility, this facility is aimed specifically at children from the Baumgartenstrasse primary school," says Sabine Kröger, head of the Caritas children's home on Frühlingstrasse, who is also responsible for both lunchtime care locations.

Good news for parents: The Brunnenhof is not fully booked for the coming childcare year.

There are currently 25 students attending the facility.

“The capacity there is enough for up to 40 children,” says Kröger's deputy Nicola Kammerer.

The children are looked after from the end of school until 2 or 3:30 p.m.

There is the possibility of lunch, with longer bookings a homework time is provided.

The supervisors, who, unlike in daycare centers, do not have to have a pedagogical qualification, try to create a family environment.

“When the weather is nice, you can go to the playground,” says Kammerer.

Childcare now also available during holiday periods

In principle, the lunchtime care only takes place on school days - so far a disadvantage compared to the after-school care center, which runs during the holiday periods (maximum 30 days closed).

But there is also something going on with lunch care.

"Since many parents also need childcare during vacation, we have also been offering lunchtime childcare in selected vacation weeks since this school year," emphasizes Kröger.

This should increase the demand for this comparatively flexible form of care.

"Parents choose the type of care that suits their needs," says Kröger.

Currently, more parents would ask for lunchtime care than for a place in the after-school care center.

“The need for lunchtime care places will increase.” Caritas is in talks with the market community in order to be prepared in terms of space and personnel.

Lunch care is financed by funding from the Ministry of Culture and by parental contributions;

the latter are based on the chosen care time and the days booked.

Caritas started providing lunchtime care in Holzkirchen almost 25 years ago, in 1997 at Baumgartenstraße 30. Six years later, the second location followed in the elementary school Probst-Sigl-Straße.

In 2009, the Baumgartenstrasse location moved to Frühlingstrasse, before lunchtime care was completely concentrated on Probst-Sigl-Strasse in 2017.

Only in 2020 did a second location open again at Brunnenhof.

Caritas has been running the day care center on Frühlingstrasse since 1989;

100 places are currently available.

A kindergarten group was added two years ago, and the facility has been known as the “Kinderhaus” ever since.

Free places:

For the coming school year there are still places free for lunch care at the Brunnenhof.

Parents can find registration forms at www.caritas-nah-am-naechsten.de/kinderhort-holzkirchen or they can call 0 80 24/58 88.
