There are hundreds of thousands of stray animals in Hong Kong. The local animal protection organization "Mao Shou Rescue" (hereinafter referred to as "Mao Shou"), which has been dedicated to saving the waves, established the first 24-hour TNR ("capture, sterilization, "Return to the center"), hoping to help volunteers rescue stray dogs and provide them with a place to stay temporarily.
The center occupies an area of 600 square feet. It will open on this Sunday (March 7). The first two weeks will be the experimental phase, after which appointments will be officially accepted.
The founder of Mao Shou said that in the past, he had faced the problem of dog placement when rescuing dogs. He hoped to help fellow travellers by setting up a TNR center.

Since 2015, Mao Shou has saved more than 2,800 animals based on his clinic records.
Kent, the founder of Mao Shou Rescue, said in an interview with "Hong Kong 01" that he has rescued dogs for 8 years and has been helping stray animals without changing the wind and rain. There have been many sad moments in the past: "Sometimes when we get help in the middle of the night, it is difficult to find it immediately. Kent understands that the road to save dogs is very long. Facing more and more cases of animal abandonment and injuries, he has already set up a TNR center more than a year ago and believes that the TNR plan is the most humane and most effective way to reduce the number of stray animals. However, the biggest problem in the plan lies in the resettlement problem: "Most of the stray dogs are afraid of people, vicious, or sick. It is difficult to live with other normal dogs. Volunteers often have to save the stray dogs. Worry about where they live."

Kent said that the resettlement problem sometimes discourages volunteers and reduces dog rescues. Therefore, the TNR center can provide temporary places for Lang Lang to live and wait for sterilization and recuperation.
The TNR Center is located in Sham Shui Po, covers an area of 600 feet, and operates 24 hours a day.

In addition to the TNR center, Kent also hopes to set up a veterinary clinic with a department dedicated to the sterilization of stray animals. If the owner temporarily misses the appointment and the dog cannot be neutered, he can arrange other strays to make up for it immediately, and it won’t be wasted. Resources, but he lamented that "it shouldn't be realized in my lifetime."
In recent years, the awareness of animal protection has gradually attracted attention. Kent hopes that more people will participate in local animal protection work in the future. Earlier, Mao Shou received a request from the public for help, stating that a stray Tang dog "Jinshan" was found in Jinshan Country Park by mistake and was in serious condition.
