Russia reiterated that Syria has fulfilled all its obligations towards the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons regarding the so-called "chemical file", noting that Western countries continue to use this issue as a tool to pressure the Syrian government.

During a video session of the United Nations Security Council yesterday, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said, according to RIA Novosti news agency, that Syria “voluntarily joined the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and fulfilled the basic conditions under the Chemical Weapons Convention and disposed of its entire stockpile and destroyed the relevant production facilities since The year 2014 was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons more than once.

Nebenzia pointed out that some countries continue to use the "chemical paper" as a tool to pressure the Syrian state and direct "serious accusations" against it again and again, noting that the number of evidence of fabrication, manipulation and violations within the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has exceeded the "dangerous level."
