Those active in the Buch am Buchrain volunteer fire brigade are bitterly disappointed that they have to wait much longer than expected for construction to begin on their new tool shed.

Buch am Buchrain

- The active members of the Buch am Buchrain volunteer fire brigade and the horticultural association, which is also affected, are not exactly enthusiastic about the new developments that the construction of the new tool shed has been postponed.

The reason for the delay is excessive current municipal spending.

The news came as a surprise from the local council.

The fire station was too small after 20 years.

The current fire station is located in the center of Buch and was built in the 1980s.

Only a good 20 years later, the desire for a larger building was already being voiced, which is why the existing accommodation in the municipal council was sometimes referred to as "bad planning".

Since the end of 2014 it has been certain that the new building will be built next to a residential area at the western entrance to Haidfeld.

At that time, it was also set as a goal that the horticultural association should also receive optimized premises there.

This already uses a garage in the existing house.

Now the municipal housing construction costs the municipality 5.3 million euros, the groundbreaking should already take place this spring.

Since the new Wehr clubhouse is also expensive at 4.6 million euros, Buch put the project on hold.

By when?

still uncertain.

"How that went is not optimal."

Fire brigade commander and CSU councilor Thomas Steidler stated when our newspaper asked that he had deliberately held back in the said meeting.

He understands the tight budget, but regrets the new starting position.

Steidler recalls that the planning for the Haidfeld property originally began with the tool shed.

“But now it is the last thing that will be built there.

The way it all went is not so ideal. ”The current development was not foreseen and fire department chairman Martin Roth relied on the start of construction this year.

"That is bitter and very disappointing for us," he says of the new situation.

He has not only seen disappointed reactions from members, but also very surprised citizens.

The head of the horticultural association, Georg Stockl, anticipated the current situation.

And because of the residential construction, "which is becoming more and more expensive and also because of Corona".

Its members were already looking forward to their new home.

It is definitely important for the horticultural association to have a permanent place in Buch.

In particular, the future machine for heating juice when pressing fruit cannot be dismantled quickly and continuously, explains Stockl.

Will it start in 2022 or 2023?

Steidler emphasizes that the fire brigade and the community are not in conflict.

They want to find a solution together.

The armed forces have already formulated their expectations.

Now it is the commune's turn.

The commanding officer would like to start the tenders soon.

Steidler and Roth hope that construction work will start in 2023 or even 2022.

“We won't be able to move in for three to four years at the earliest,” says Roth.

Or as Steidler puts it: The fire fighters are not enthusiastic about having to “change their clothes for another four years in the unheated fire station when the temperature is below zero”.

Both managers emphasize that the framework conditions in the current building are still very unsatisfactory.

There is still no hot water there, according to Roth, because: "In the end you always said that you would not invest anything in the house because a new one would soon be built anyway."
