The Weilheim State Building Authority plans to rebuild the Ammer Bridge on State Road 2056 between Fischen and Dießen next year.

During the construction period, traffic will be diverted over a temporary bridge.

- "The reason for the new building is the poor condition of the building," says German Abenthum, who is responsible for building bridges at the State Building Authority in Weilheim.

The bridge over the Ammer on State Road 2056 was built in 1933 and no longer meets today's requirements.

In addition, the latest inspection revealed damage to the concrete and exposed reinforcement.

The bridge only received a grade of 3.5 on the scale, which goes up to four.

The seal is no longer the best either.

In addition, the bridge has three pillars on which trees that have been carried along during flooding can be caught.

Such blockages then hinder the drainage of the water and can lead to flooding above the dam.

For this reason, the new bridge will be built without the central pillar in the Ammer.

In addition, the reinforced concrete slab that spans the river has a higher load-bearing capacity and is wider.

With a width of eight meters, the carriageway is dimensioned so that future maintenance work can be carried out on one side, while traffic flows over the other side.

The new bridge has a four-meter-wide footpath and bike path on one side and a footpath with a width of 1.80 meters on the other.

On both sides of the bridge, the roads and cycle paths will be adapted to the new structure.

The length of the construction site is a good 600 meters, of which 50 meters are accounted for by the bridge.

According to Abenthum, the road, which is the most important connection between the east and west side of the Ammersee in the south, will not be closed during the construction period.

The traffic will be diverted over a temporary bridge that will be installed immediately south of the construction site.

This avoids having to take a detour via raising.

The passage through Raisting would be a problem, especially for trucks, as the underpass under the railway line is only 2.70 meters high and the alternative route over the narrow Sölber Berg with its S-curve is problematic when there are oncoming traffic.

The planning documents for the new bridge are publicly displayed in Pähl and Dießen for one month and can be viewed there during office hours.

Due to the corona pandemic, an appointment is required.

According to information from the State Building Authority, the municipalities will provide more details on the place and time of the design and the possibility of raising objections to the planning.

In addition, the documents for the planning approval have been available on the website of the government of Upper Bavaria since March 1 at "stbawm.bayern.de/strassenbau/planfeststellen/aktuell/ammerbruecke".
