Open Sundays are supposed to help the trade

In the years before the pandemic, Bruck was regularly open for shopping on Sundays.

Their sense in the city council had been increasingly questioned.

This year this criticism was extremely cautious.

Corona has shifted the priorities.

Fürstenfeldbruck

- The city is allowed to approve up to four Sundays open for shopping every year within the framework of the Shop Closing Act and the associated ordinances, and in the end it did so regularly.

The City Council's Culture and Works Committee (KWA) also spoke out in favor of it in March 2020.

In the previous debate, however, various factions and city councils questioned whether there was a need for shopping Sundays, whether there was any benefit for local retailers and whether they were still really interested.

Fallen victim to Corona

Then Corona canceled the first Sunday shopping in 2020, even before the city council was able to confirm the committee's vote.

The hope for 2021 is all the greater. Again, the committee recommended that four Sundays be approved.

And this time there was no criticism.

For Social Democrats, working on Sundays for employees is often a counter-argument against extending opening hours.

"And normally I would now also ask whether four Sundays are really necessary," said Tina Jäger (SPD).

"This time, of course, I'm for it," she said, given the current losses for retailers.

Expansion of the areas

Jäger suggested that the areas of the urban area in which openings are allowed on four Sundays should also be extended to the area around Geschwister-Scholl-Platz.

Then the dealers in Buchenau could also benefit and visitor flows could be straightened out.

Karl Danke (BBV) asked whether Adolf-Kolping-Strasse, which this year is not part of the planned coverage for the opening permit, could also be included.

Peter Glockzin (Free Voters) suggested looking for alternative dates for the first two open Sundays as a precaution.

"I have concerns about whether the events can take place in April and June," said Glockzin.

An alternative date could then be August 15.

The potters' market in Fürstenfeld may take place there.

“The events could perhaps even be fruitful,” said Norbert Leinweber, head of the Fürstenfeld event forum.

According to current planning, the Sundays open for sale are to take place together with the spring market on April 25th, together with the car show in the city center on June 13th, as part of the old town festival on July 25th and together with the autumn market on October 31st.

Issue ordinance

The committee unanimously advocated the adoption of a corresponding statutory instrument.

Shops are then allowed to open in a specified area from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The opening of the shops by 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 12th, on which the fashion night is to take place, was not discussed.

Bruck's 3rd Mayor Birgitta Klemenz (CSU), who chaired the meeting, said the administration would be asked to examine the suggestions for Adolf-Kolping-Strasse and Geschwister-Scholl-Platz.

When the city council finally deliberates, the issues would also be dealt with.

This should also apply to an objection made by Dieter Kreis (ÖDP).

He asked what had become of the animated transformation of the car show into a general mobility event.

For this purpose, it was decided to set up a working group.

Even this minimal criticism of the ÖDP politician would have been much more exuberant in normal times.
