Thousands of Arabs and Jews are protesting today (Friday) in Umm al-Fahm in protest of the authorities' lack of treatment of the wave of violence and crime in Arab society.

There were riots and stone-throwing.

MK Mansour Abbas arrived at the demonstration and was attacked by protesters.

It is estimated that about 20,000 people are protesting at the scene.

Among the demonstrators are MKs from the joint list and Meretz, activists from left-wing organizations and public representatives from the Arab sector.

Some of the participants carry Palestinian flags.

The police blocked the Umm al-Fahm junction on Road 65. The section of the road between Megiddo Junction and the Mei Ami junction is also blocked in both directions.

The chairman of the joint list, MK Ayman Odeh, took part in the demonstration and criticized the police for closing the deputies: "An entire nation is fighting for personal security, to live in peace, and to defeat violence and crime. The police prevent the people from reaching Umm al-Fahm because they "Cowardly in front of the protesters and in front of the criminal organizations. We will continue to fight to live with dignity and defeat violence and crime."

At the same time, the Haifa District Attorney's Office filed an indictment this morning in the city district court against Mahmoud Yassin, 24, a resident of Tamra, for aggravated willful misconduct, weapons offenses (possession and carrying), firearms, intentional sabotage of a vehicle and malicious damage.
