Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov reiterated today that his country does not possess chemical weapons, noting that the accusations directed against Moscow in this regard are untrue and baseless.
Commenting on media reports circulating about Britain and the United States ’intention to impose additional sanctions on Russia and to increase pressure through the Organization for Chemical Disarmament, Peskov told reporters, according to Sputnik:“ Washington is launching absolutely baseless accusations against Russia and alleges the presence of chemical weapons on its soil. ”
Peskov stressed that "these weapons do not exist, nor can there be any real evidence and data indicating this matter because Russia has long since destroyed all chemical weapons stockpiles and all associated programs and those that may be related in some way to the production of chemical weapons."
Peskov confirmed yesterday that Moscow destroyed all its chemical weapons and is waiting for other countries to do so, including the United States.
