Vienna - SANA
Russia today called for a meeting as soon as possible regarding the return of Iran and the United States to the nuclear deal.
Sputnik quoted Russia's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency Mikhail Ulyanov as saying that "the United States and Iran need to coordinate steps to return to the nuclear agreement," noting that "waiting for the first step from the other side leads to a dead end."
"Both Iran and the United States want a complete return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action ... Now we just need to agree on the sequence of steps and their content ... This is a solvable task in light of a common strategic goal," he added.
He explained, "We may need an informal meeting of the current participants in the nuclear agreement and the United States in order to start the dialogue .. This matter is possible in principle, but some details must be clarified because it is a very sensitive topic, especially with regard to Iran."
On May 8, 2018, former US President Donald Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement signed between Iran and the P5 + 1 group in 2015, while European signatories announced their adherence to it and its full implementation.
