Russia announced that it had taken a decision to extend the life of the International Space Station until 2028.
"The decision to extend the life of the space station to the year 2028 was taken at a high level," Russia Today quoted the deputy head of the Center for Space Equipment Maintenance of the Russian Space Company, Yuri Gedzenko, indicating that the cracks that appeared on the station’s body that were repaired will not affect its work. .
It is noteworthy that the countries participating in the space station project have agreed to invest it until 2024, and talks are now underway between them regarding continuing to invest it after the end of the period specified for it according to the agreement.
The Director General of the Russian Cosmos Corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, announced earlier that Russia could establish its national orbital station and use for this purpose space units that would dock with the international station during the current and next years, while the Russian space official did not rule out the continued investment of the international space station, saying that abandoning it was premature. .
