Erding - In the corona lockdown, many people complain about a lack of exercise.

In order to specifically encourage children, there is now “Schlawindl Move”, a program that combines sport and music.

No sport at school, no sport in a club, but more time in front of the PC in homeschooling: Experts fear the serious consequences of the lack of exercise in the corona lockdown, especially for children.

Andi Starek wants to do something about that.

Together with children's sports trainer and choreographer Andrea Merkert, the musician from Eichenried has developed a movement concept for children.

“Schlawindl Move” is the name of the program.

Classrooms or gyms in schools and day-care centers are now to be turned into a stage for the songs by Starek's rock band Schlawindl.

The movement music project "Schlawindl Move" originated from the Corona period, says Starek.

He takes care of the music with guitar and vocals, while Merkert is responsible for the movement.

Together with bassist Bernd Sigerist, who plays at Keller Steff, and drummer Rainer Huber, who makes music with Gil Ofarim, for example, the two of them recently made motion videos at the Klettham elementary school.

The headmaster Ingeborg Bruns was immediately enthusiastic when he asked, reports Starek and says: “We have been in contact with the elementary school for a long time.” After all, he is the godfather for “School without Racism” there.

An honorary position that he also exercises for the Moosinning elementary school and the Parksiedlung Oberschleißheim and Neustift Freising schools.

A very good friend gave him the idea for the motion videos, reports Starek.

“She works in a kindergarten and told me that simple sports and exercise videos are shot in many institutions and then sent out so that the children can do at least a little something at home.

So I thought to myself: You have to make a decision, because that's a great idea. "

The complete program for “Schlawindl Move” was already available in autumn.

He had already had the first dates for exercise concerts in schools - but then came the lockdown.

Starek is now offering a complete package for schools, kindergartens and after-school care centers: the institutions can buy, download and send the videos to Schlawindl songs with complete choreography to the children so that they can practice at home.

"And as soon as it is possible again, we will come to a small-scale, hands-on movement concert," says Starek - just him and Merkert, but appearances with the band are also possible.

"Because of course we want to play big concerts again when we can," says Starek.

He also sees such projects as an opportunity to support artists in these difficult times, because: "So many artists have not earned any money for almost a year now."

Speaking of the project: the musician is planning another larger project with the Klettham elementary school for spring or summer.

There should be a song and a video of its own.
