Erding - Glass containers full to the brim are not uncommon in Erding.
White glass is particularly affected.
The district office is now expanding the waste collection point at Kronthaler Weiher.
It is a picture that regularly causes a lack of understanding at container locations in Erding: bottles and glasses are lined up next to containers that are full to the brim.
Some citizens dispose of their containers because they cannot wait until the container is emptied and are unwilling to go to another collection point.
Now the district office wants to remedy the situation at least at the waste collection point at Kronthaler Weiher - the largest in the city.
A third white glass container will be set up there, says Claudia Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer, spokeswoman for the authorities.
City Councilor Walter Rauscher (CSU) will be particularly pleased.
He had recently raised the problem in the city council and asked for it.
The passionate Wasserwachtler noticed that the white glass container at the Kronthaler Weiher is usually full much earlier than the one for green or brown glass.
The two containers currently set up at Kronthaler Weiher hold twelve cubic meters of glass each and are emptied about twice a month upon notification.
“We have recently known that there are often large quantities of white glass here.
That is why it has already been agreed with the company involved to set up an additional container purely for white glass.
This will increase capacity there by a third by mid-March, ”explains Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer.

It also does away with the widespread myth that glass of different colors is thrown together in the collection vehicle.
“The containers are separated on the inside and are emptied individually for each color of glass.
The collection vehicles are also equipped with partition walls so that the glass can be emptied, transported and unloaded in different colors, ”she emphasizes.
This is important, because "Glass is one of the few raw materials that can be melted down and reused almost unchanged with the right color separation," says Fiebrandt-Kirmeyer.
The recycling rate is almost 90 percent.
The disposal companies with which the district works, they are also obliged to keep the places clean.
So you have to collect the bottles and glasses neatly placed next to the containers one by one.
How ruthless some contemporaries are can be seen every day at the roadside, on sidewalks and in meadows.
Carelessly discarded garbage can be found in the vicinity of industrial estates - including empty packaging from fast-food chains.
