Geneva - Sana
The World Health Organization announced this evening that the Corona virus will have greater psychological repercussions than the Second World War, 1939-1945.
"The world may face a third and fourth wave of Corona if we are not careful," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, noting that more than 20 million doses of Corona vaccines have been distributed so far through the Kovacs platform, which is a program to transfer vaccines to Poor and middle-income countries that do not have the capacity to sign bilateral agreements for the pre-purchase of a vaccine.
On the other hand, the head of the global organization’s regional office in Europe, Hans Kluge, predicted that 2021 will remain the year of the Corona virus, and the epidemic is expected to end early next year 2022.
Klug told the German newspaper Die Welt: “I assume that 2021 will be another year for Corona, but it will be more predictable and manageable. The year 2020 was unknown, characterized by scientific and political uncertainty, and after a year we knew more and a vaccine appeared .. For me in my work it is important to plan. For the future, therefore, I assume that the epidemic will end by the beginning of 2022, and this does not mean that the virus will disappear, however I hope so .. By that time, there will be no need for interventions.
Klug stressed the need for European solidarity, adding: "You cannot vaccinate rich regions while others are not vaccinated."
