Today (6th) at midnight, 2 illegal gambling stalls and 1 party room were smashed in 3 units of an industrial building in Kwai Chung. A total of 34 people were arrested, including 3 men, aged between 22 to 47 years old, were arrested for "operating a gambling establishment"; another 17 men and 9 women, aged between 19 and 70, were arrested for "gambling in illegal gambling establishments". They were also suspected of violating the "Prevention and Control of Diseases (" Prohibition of Group Gathering) Ordinance (Chapter 599G), was charged by police officers.

In addition, a 47-year-old female party room manager was arrested on suspicion of violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Regulations and Instructions) (Business and Premises) Regulations (Chapter 599F). There are 1 male and 3 females in the premises, aged between 55 to 69 years old, suspected of violating the "Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Group Gathering) Ordinance" (Chapter 599G), the officer issued a fixed penalty notice to them.

All arrested men and women are now being detained for investigation.

According to the police, operating a gambling establishment and gambling in a gambling establishment are serious crimes under the "Gambling Ordinance" Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong. The former can be fined up to 5 million yuan and imprisoned for 7 years on conviction, while the latter can be fined up to 30,000 yuan upon conviction. Yuan and imprisonment for 9 months.
