The head of the Lebanese caretaker government, Hassan Diab, called for the acceleration of the formation of a new government that would help bring Lebanon out of its difficult conditions, warning of the aggravation of the economic and social crisis in it.
In a speech today, Diab said: "Lebanon has reached the brink of explosion after the collapse ... and the Lebanese are suffering a serious social crisis, and it is likely to worsen if a new government with powers is not formed and left behind by internal political momentum and external support to deal with this crisis."
And Diab added, "Social conditions are exacerbating, financial conditions are pressing strongly, political conditions are getting more complex, and the country is facing enormous challenges that a normal government cannot face without political consensus, so how can a caretaker government meet those challenges."
Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
