Five agents jumped into the water to rescue a suicidal person this Friday in Viry-Châtillon. She is safe and sound.

They did not hesitate to risk their life to save another.

Around 12:45 p.m. this Friday afternoon, the Juvisy-sur-Orge police station received a call from a concerned man.

On the other end of the line, he explains that his ex-wife, aged 25, sent him several suicidal texts.

The agents go to his home in Viry-Chatillon where they come across the firefighters and the ex-spouse.

But the occupant of the premises is not there.

His vehicle is also missing.

The police make rounds in the town to locate it.

They manage to identify it in the parking lot of the ice rink, just next to the lake of Viry-Châtillon.

As they approached, they saw a shape struggling in the cold water.

"The young woman is already about twenty meters from the edge and struggles to stay on the surface," says a police source.

The five agents present then decide to jump into the lake to help him.

Hospitalized in stable condition

They manage, with difficulty, to bring her back to the bank safe and sound.

There, they give him first aid and wrap him in a survival blanket while waiting for the firefighters to arrive.

The emergency services transport the victim, still conscious, to the nearby hospital of Juvisy-sur-Orge.

Back at the police station, once the uniforms had been rinsed, the five agents had the congratulations of the Departmental Directorate of Public Security of Essonne.

“Bravo to these colleagues, reacts the police union Unit-SGP 91. We wish to honor and congratulate them, they have shown great responsiveness and courage.
