Didier Lallement., Paris police prefect, attended the launch of a vast vaccination operation against Covid-19 this Saturday morning

A “mass vaccination” operation is launched this weekend in Paris and Ile-de-France, because “time is running out” in the race against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the prefect of Paris police, Didier Lallement.

Paris and Ile-de-France are among the areas where the virus circulates the most actively.

In a fire station transformed into a vaccination center, Mr. Lallement said that “12,000 doses” of vaccines had been provided “in Paris by the State”.

We must vaccinate "en masse, because time is running out", commented the prefect.

Objective: 50,000 people vaccinated Sunday evening

The prefect of the region, Marc Guillaume, for his part said that "51,000 additional doses of Pfizer vaccine" had been delivered for this weekend.

"105 centers are reopened this weekend in Ile-de-France", to which is added the opening of "13 additional centers", he said, stressing that it was "a exceptional effort throughout the region ”.

“This operation, mounted in an emergency, is part of the response” to the fight against the pandemic, added Prefect Lallement, hoping that “50,000 more people” will be vaccinated on Sunday evening.

Didier Lallement also insisted on the need not to regroup.

He warned that if he were to notice during demonstrations that the organizers did not manage to enforce the wearing of a mask and to provide the hydroalcoholic gel, he "would put an immediate end to these demonstrations".

He banned in several districts of the capital including the banks of the Seine the consumption of alcohol from 11 am, to avoid regroupings, as had been observed last weekend, which was particularly sunny.
