Investment in a future worth living

- All children as losers of the corona pandemic - this accusation, which is often made, is too general.

In many families, the children are currently in good hands.

And these parts of the homeschooling generation will quickly make up for knowledge gaps.

But there are other families in which the home is not a place of security and support.

Real intervention is only a last resort.

Society helps here through schools, day-care centers, clubs or even private individuals with a big heart and watchful eyes.

It is overdue for children to become visible again.

You have to go back to life.

Every euro that is spent in schools for air filters and the like, in swimming pools for complicated hygiene concepts or for the revitalization of clubs is well invested.

Dorfen's commitment to a new start in the city library is particularly valuable at this time.

Such meeting places, in which the spirit can grow and perhaps even heal, are sorely needed.

The municipalities are probably facing major budget holes.

Nevertheless, the greatest efforts - if necessary also financed by credit - are the basis for a future worth living in.

We will be able to see this from the weakest, in addition to the children, the elderly, the unemployed and migrants.

The Dorfen Center for Integration and Family will probably become a victim of Corona and communal thrift.

Without a survival aid from the city, the end of the world threatens.

Former Federal President Gustav Heinemann said: “You can recognize the value of a society by how it treats the weakest of its members.” Hopefully one day we will not see this sentence as a gloomy prophecy in retrospect of the corona pandemic.
