According to Taiwan’s "United Daily News," Pan Huixin, the general manager of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Taiwan, announced at the Chinese New Year reception that she will leave the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at the end of this month in response to her personal career plan.

According to reports, she has no intention of renewing her employment after the expiration of her term, but will continue to stay in Taiwan after leaving office.

It is reported that after Pan leaves office, the post of general manager of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for Taiwan will be temporarily vacant.

The Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Tourism Board held a Chinese New Year reception in Taipei on Wednesday (3rd) evening. During this period, Pan Huixin revealed the above decision in a speech.

Regarding her career plan after leaving office, Pan Huixin did not disclose more, only that she would still stay in Taiwan and take a rest first.

The news stated that Pan Huixin had obtained the right of abode in Taiwan.

The report quoted sources saying that Pan Huixin had no intention of renewing his employment after the expiration of his term and had obtained the right of abode in Taiwan, which is rare.

Some analysts say that under the current overall situation in Hong Kong, the "jumping" of Hong Kong's officialdom will become a trend, and Pan Huixin will not be an isolated case.

The MAC has not confirmed or denied whether Pan Huixin has obtained the right of abode in Taiwan. It only stated that the competent authorities will process Hong Kong residents' applications for residency in Taiwan in accordance with the law. The authorities have not commented on the case.

It is understood that Taiwan formally approved the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to establish an office in Taiwan on October 16, 2008, during the Ma Ying-jeou administration. The MAC stated at that time that the office was the first case of a semi-official Hong Kong government agency establishing an office in Taiwan. An important step for the expansion of economic and trade relations between the two places.
