TRIBUNE - Two sinologists, Marie Holzman and Patricia Batto, protest against the green light from the CSA to the installation in France of a station of the Chinese state television channel CGTN which intends to broadcast its propaganda programs in Europe.

Marie Holzman, academic and translator, chairs the Solidarité Chine association, created in 1989. Patricia Batto is a lecturer in Chinese studies and a translator.

The Chinese state television channel CGT is determined to continue its propaganda mission in Europe.

On February 4, 2021, UK media regulator Ofcom revoked its broadcast license.

Ofcom had been waiting since September 2020 for the CGTN (China Global Television Network) to comply with British rules which prohibit the license holder from being controlled by a political body.

Sensing the decision of the British regulator, the CGTN contacted, in December, the Superior council of audio-visual (CSA), to be able to transmit by satellite in Europe from a ground station in France.

And, in the greatest discretion, and to the surprise of all those who felt concerned by the question, on March 4, the news fell: authorization granted!
