Six Swedish police officers were injured last night during the police dispersal of hundreds of protesters against restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of the Corona virus and closed a bridge in central Stockholm to prevent them from crossing.
The police said on their website that they were in dialogue with the organizers to persuade the demonstrators to refrain from violating the ban on large gatherings, noting that six of their members were injured while trying to disperse the protesters.
Sweden, with a population of ten million, recorded 4,831 new cases of Coronavirus last Friday and 26 new deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 13,003.
And the Swedish government announced last month that it would reduce the working hours of restaurants, bars and cafes and tighten restrictions on the number of people allowed in stores in an attempt to avoid exposure to a third wave of the Corona pandemic.
