With the sports concept for the community, something should finally move forward, athletes and clubs want.

But some local councils are afraid of escalating costs.

It has long been known that the sports enthusiasts in the community of Sauerlach finally want new training opportunities.

The two sports clubs TSV Sauerlach and SV Arget joined forces in the summer and presented the local council with a future-oriented sports concept with artificial turf and a new gym.

Now the project is finally supposed to pick up speed, but for some local councils the concept is too expensive.

Search by location

Two applications received by the municipality in February clearly show that things must finally continue when it comes to the subject of the sports concept.

The two municipal councilors Babak Afshar (SPD) and Rupert Feistbauer (UBV) are pushing for a suitable location for the artificial turf next to the tennis courts in Sauerlach.

The CSU local faction wants the two projects - the square and the hall - to be merged and viewed and planned as one project.

The municipality then suggested that the administration should prepare and advertise a planning competition for the sports concept.

An idea that did not go down well with all local councils.

Demand for competition

"I am not in favor of any competition," said Bernhard Lederer (UBV) in the previous council meeting.

“There should be a simple process.

In this way, the municipality can decide for itself who receives the contract. ”Building authority manager Jeanette Schaffert replied that an ideas competition was also possible without awarding the contract to the winning architect.

"For that, the prize money would have to be higher," said Schaffert.

Ten million euros

Another point that bothered Lederer is the cost of the sports concept.

The municipality has budgeted ten million euros.

"It seems like a lot to me," he said.

And also Axel Horn (Greens) did not agree with the high expenditure.

“I want a clear upper limit of four million euros.” Markus Hoffmann (CSU), however, did not understand the objections.

"I don't know why you are now hacking around on the ten million euros," he said.

“The buzzer did not fall from the sky, it is part of the household.

If that bothers you, you could have said something at the last budget meeting. ”Mayor Barbara Bogner (UBV) tried to defuse the situation.

"There is a possibility that the costs can go up to this level - but do not have to," she emphasized.

Based on the expenses of the multi-purpose hall, which was built in 1990 for 13 million D-Marks, the administration calculated the costs for the sports concept.

New high school hall

Wolfgang Busch (Greens) appealed to his council colleagues to look into the future.

“It is conceivable that the new grammar school will also include a hall,” he said.

For sports clubs, however, it is always difficult to get into school halls, replied Robert Lechner (CSU).

Bogner was of the same opinion.

“The hall won't be free a lot except on weekends and during the holidays.” However, the sports clubs need just that - a place to train.

Finally, the municipal council commissioned the administration to prepare the cornerstones of the sports concept and to present them to the committee.
