It is understood that deputies to the Hong Kong People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference were recently requested by the authorities that after the National People’s Congress and the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference (two sessions) are over, they cannot stay in Beijing to continue their work and must return to Hong Kong immediately.

This arrangement is neither scientific nor respectful, and obviously should be corrected.

36 deputies to the Hong Kong People’s Congress and more than 200 members of the CPPCC have been vaccinated earlier. Before attending the two sessions, they also went to Shenzhen for testing according to arrangements to ensure safety before transferring to Beijing.

It was originally unknown that there will be other restrictions on their activities in Beijing, but it is understood that recently the Health Commission required them to return to Hong Kong immediately after attending the two sessions.

First of all, this is unreasonable in science.

Because from the perspective of scientific epidemic prevention, they are obviously safe, and the arrangements should be the same as other mainland NPC deputies and CPPCC.

Secondly, the Hong Kong People’s Congress and the CPPCC have also been with many national leaders during the two sessions. For example, on Saturday (March 6) morning, the Hong Kong and Macau CPPCC members met with Vice Premier Han, who is in charge of Hong Kong and Macau affairs, for about 2 hours.

Since it is also possible for the People's Congress and the CPPCC of the Hong Kong District to be with the leaders of the country, why can't they stay in Beijing for other tasks and meet with other people?

This also doesn't make sense logically.

Furthermore, the Hong Kong People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference should also communicate more with the Mainland in public and private. Some people even have a real need to work in the Mainland for official or business purposes.

If the authorities only allow them to attend the two sessions, but must return to Hong Kong immediately after the two sessions, this would be disrespect for the Hong Kong People's Congress and the CPPCC, and it would also underestimate or even ignore their need to stay in Beijing.

This arrangement is not conducive to active exchanges between the two places, nor is it conducive to political unity.

The fourth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong has not completely ended, and it is understandable that the two places have not resumed customs clearance.

According to Tang Yingnian, a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, although Han Zheng did not mention the timetable and indicators for customs clearance, he only expressed the hope that Hong Kong's epidemic can be controlled.

However, for the Hong Kong People's Congress and the CPPCC that have been vaccinated and tested, the unreasonable restrictions appear to be discriminatory.

The Health Commission should get rid of bureaucracy and make appropriate arrangements in a more scientific way.
