The reproaches of the tenors of the Republicans, of Nicolas Sarkozy, of François Léotard on a “political” justice, do not pass: 62% of the French believe that the political personalities are treated “less severely” by the justice than the ordinary citizens, according to a Ifop poll for the Journal du Dimanche.
Half of the 1,012 people questioned by the institute on Thursday and Friday (*) also believe that Nicolas Sarkozy, sentenced Monday at first instance to prison, was treated "better than a simple citizen".
Only 12% of those polled consider that politicians are treated "more severely".
And a quarter believe that the treatment is the same whether one has held political office or not.
The feeling of injustice is deeper among supporters of the Republicans, the party of which Nicolas Sarkozy remains the tutelary figure: only 14% think that the former president was better treated by the judges.
Nevertheless, 19% of these same supporters are convinced that a policy will be less heavily sanctioned.
This impression of near impunity is, on the other hand, implacable among supporters of the Greens (79%), LFI (75%), Socialists (73%), and Frontists (70%).
