A person was killed and dozens were injured when a train derailed today in Sindh province, southern Pakistan.
The AP news agency quoted the official in the Railway Authority, Kamran Lashari, as saying that eight trailers of a train consisting of 18 trailers that were heading from Karachi to Lahore deviated from their course between Rohri and Sanji stations and fell into a small ditch, killing one person and wounding forty others.
Lashari pointed out that the accident also caused a temporary suspension of rail traffic in both directions, while Minister of Railways Azzam Al-Swati announced the opening of an investigation into the accident.
At least twenty people were killed and eight others were injured in a train accident in the city of Sheikhupura in the Punjab province of Pakistan last July.
