Renewed protest actions and road blockages in Beirut and some Lebanese regions to demand improvement of the living conditions, the fight against high prices, and the fight against the corrupt.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that a number of protesters blocked roads leading to Martyrs Square in downtown Beirut with burning tires this afternoon and chanted slogans calling for better living conditions after the price hike.

The protesters also cut off the coastal highway this afternoon between Beirut and the south at the town of Jiyeh and Naameh, while protesters gathered at the Elia Junction in Sidon, setting fire to tires and closing off the side of the road, amid tight security measures.

In Minieh, Akkar, northern Lebanon, protesters cut the Minya International Highway in both directions at the town of Bahnin by placing trucks, rocks and tires in the middle of it in protest against the deteriorating living conditions, forcing highway crossers to take alternative routes to reach their work.

Protesters blocked the main international road in both directions at the Nahr Al-Bared bridge in the town of Al-Muhammarah in northern Lebanon to protest against the poor living conditions. A number of young men also blocked a public road in Halba Al-Qobayat and cut off the international road Al-Abedah Al-Aboudieh at the Qabreen village junction in the Akkar Plain area with burning tires.

In turn, the traffic control room of the Lebanese Internal Security Forces reported that traffic was cut off on Taalabaya Chtoura highway and Saad Nayel highway in the Bekaa in both directions.

Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
