The Pope of the Vatican, Pope Francis, called for global solidarity to confront terrorism and extremism that affected Syria and Iraq for more than ten years.

On the sidelines of his current visit to Iraq and after meeting with a number of Iraqi officials, Pope Francis said, "The true call to religion calls us to uphold the values ​​of peace and coexistence," stressing the need to get out of the ordeal of terrorism that brought death and destruction to the region.

And the Pope of the Vatican pointed to the importance of dialogue, respect for the law, and everyone's commitment to overcoming differences and confrontations, noting that his visit to Iraq comes at a time when the world is trying to get out of the Corona pandemic, which has caused the deterioration of social and economic conditions.

Pope Francis stressed that the Corona pandemic “requires joint efforts from each party to take steps for the fair distribution of the Coronavirus vaccine.”

Pope Francis discussed in the Iraqi city of Najaf yesterday with the Iraqi religious authority, Ali Al-Sistani, the great challenges facing humanity in the current era and the role of faith and divine messages and commitment to high moral values ​​in overcoming them.

Iraqi President Barham Salih stressed during his meeting the day before yesterday with the Pope of the Vatican, the need to continue work to combat extremist ideology, eradicate the roots of terrorism, support diversity and turn it into an element of strength and cohesion in today's world.
