New usage regulations now apply in the Hallbergmoos sports and leisure park.
This also applies to e-bikes and pedelecs.
Hallbergmoos
- They have long been a familiar sight on the streets: motor-assisted bicycles and e-scooters.
In parlance, electric bicycles are often referred to as "e-bikes", but, strictly speaking, they are "pedelecs".
The latter are now also allowed in the sports and leisure park in Hallbergmoos - but e-bikes are not.
Electric bikes are often referred to as e-bikes, but they are actually pedelecs
The municipal council has repealed the usage regulations and the general ban on "motorized vehicles" which has been in force since 2012.
From now on it is permitted to drive on the sports park with e-scooters, Segways, e-skateboards and the aforementioned pedelecs - muscle-powered bikes with an assisted motor.
E-bikes, on the other hand, are not allowed.
With the exclusion of this type of bicycle, the municipal council followed an urgent recommendation by the municipal bicycle commissioner Robert Wäger (Greens).
In order to avoid any misunderstandings, Damian Edfelder (CSU) explained the difference: In common parlance, electric bikes are often referred to as “e-bikes”, but they are actually pedelecs.
The difference: E-bikes are small motorcycles that drive without muscle power, require a moped driver's license, registration and license plate and can reach speeds of up to 45 km / h.
With pedelecs, on the other hand, the cyclist has to pedal to get support from the electric motor up to a maximum of 25 km / h.
More than 95 percent of the electric bicycles currently sold in Germany are pedelecs.
In individual cases, there is approval from the town hall
Employees and contracted service providers of the municipality are allowed to drive into the sports park with motor vehicles, provided that they have to do the necessary work there.
Clubs that want to use a motor vehicle in the sports park for training or an event, for example, can obtain approval from the town hall in individual cases.
The statute also includes the passage that fishing in the sports park pond is prohibited.
Christian Schirsch (CSU) had drawn attention to this after he had recently observed anglers there.
