An employee of the Lod District Court was convicted of disciplinary offenses in racist remarks on his Facebook and in the WhatsApp group of Labor.

The Civil Service Commission's disciplinary tribunal sentenced him in a decision issued yesterday (Sunday) to a severe reprimand, confiscation of half a salary, demotion for one year and disqualification for promotion to a managerial position or a more senior position for one year.



The employee, Sharon Naimi, was an assistant clerk in the court in Lod.

According to the indictment filed against him by the Disciplinary Division of the Commission, in July 2018 he posted on his Facebook page a photo of then-Defense Minister Amir Peretz with the binoculars upside down and above it he wrote "Ethiopians are full of Ethiopians."

Later, in June 2019, published on Facebook a picture of a black woman and about which he wrote: "If she sneezes all late" and the name's save us. "

He said he "failed in his language, he is not a racist, and the things he said do not suit him and do not characterize him."

He also noted that a civil lawsuit was filed against him for the events, at the end of which he paid NIS 4,500 in compensation.



The Disciplinary Division of the Commission sought, along with the severe reprimand, to impose on Naomi a penalty of denial of one salary and disqualification for a managerial or senior position for two years.

In light of Naimi's apology, good opinions submitted about him and his personal situation, the judges decided to settle for half of the sentence requested by the prosecution.
