The low enthusiasm of caregivers to be vaccinated annoys to the top of the state.
Only a third of them have so far agreed to step up, even though they are part of the priority categories.
"This is not normal"
, lamented Jean Castex last Thursday, during his press conference on the evolution of the health situation.
A new avenue is emerging on the table: that of compulsory vaccination for nursing staff.
The idea had already been mentioned by Emmanuel Macron in defense council last Wednesday.
Gabriel Attal, the government spokesperson, shared the hypothesis on Monday in
Le Parisien
.
“It would be irresponsible to refuse to be vaccinated when you are a caregiver.
Does that mean that it is immediately made compulsory?
We first make the choice of trust, but that remains a possibility, ”
he explained.
"Not eligible"
“For the past year, our caregivers have been heroic. But it is not admissible that we have this vaccination rate among caregivers today, ”
he also regretted Gabriel Attal.
“Everyone has rolled up their sleeves to get out of this epidemic.
Now you have to roll them up to the shoulder while being vaccinated, ”
he asked.
The government spokesperson also promised an acceleration of the vaccination campaign, hearing criticism from the French on its current slowness.
“We are at nearly 4 million Mauricette
(from the first name of the first French woman vaccinated in January, Editor's note)
and Mauritius.
But this is obviously not satisfactory for many French people, who still do not have an appointment.
The first brake, in France as elsewhere, are the doses.
We don't have enough doses to immunize everyone.
But it happens, ”
he certified.
Gabriel Attal also reaffirmed that
“the lasting solution”
against the virus was above all
“the vaccine”
rather than
“containment”
.
"But we will always take our responsibilities in the event of an epidemic explosion
," he warned.
