"What we need is to work": the call for SMEs and very small businesses to order in France

2021-03-08T18:05:06.159Z

FIGAROVOX / TRIBUNE - In an open letter addressed to large groups and to the State, co-signed by 270 directors of VSEs and SMEs, the Lab Pareto association asks each public and private actor to place their order in France. In return, they promise to create jobs.

We are managers of VSEs and SMEs.

We represent 99.9% of French companies, more than one in two jobs in our country.

The Welfare State fully plays its role, public aid in favor of companies is absolutely essential today in view of the unprecedented economic crisis that we are going through.

They are not, however, a medium-term solution.

The best way to support a business, if not the only one, is not to put it on an artificial ventilator: to support our VSEs and SMEs, we have to be made to work.

It is not secured loans that we badly need, but turnover.

From a full order book.

Visibility.

In short, to breathe for real.

The French State - through its purchases of 89 billion euros per year - is able to make us work, just like the buyers of large groups.

It is not secured loans that we badly need, but turnover

The petitioners

We therefore call for the responsibility of each public and private actor and ask them to place their order in France, with French VSEs and SMEs.

The very large volumes of purchases managed by these entities can and must more than ever be transformed into civic acts.

Their considerable impact is obviously economic, since the survival of our national fabric is at stake here, but also ecological, since ensuring the visibility of a company is the best way to support its environmental transition.

It has been proven that a purchase made in an SME creates jobs, in a very direct way.

At the dawn of an unprecedented rebound in unemployment, imagine our capacity to create jobs thanks to the billions of euros in orders that the public and private sectors are able to place here.

If these buyers work with us much more consistently than they do today, then we will be able to maintain our jobs and create new ones.

We may be more expensive, it is possible.

But we will be agile, creative, responsive and close.

We are ready to challenge ourselves to meet your needs.

French entrepreneurship has largely proven its value, it is recognized around the world: we are ready to imagine and co-construct the products, industries and services that will make it possible to meet the societal challenges that are ours.

We may be (a little) more expensive, it is possible ... but not so sure ... We invite you to consider the difference in cost between a French SME and a purchase abroad according to the societal model , economic and ecological that we must support together.

So you will see that we are cheaper.

Less expensive in terms of carbon, job destruction, unemployment benefits, public health ... Also think that when we are able to create a job in our company, we also create it indirectly, by filling restaurants, hotels and small shops ...

So we won't be much more expensive, let's face it.

Our first way of acting for the world of tomorrow is the power of our credit card.

This is true for individuals, who are suggested to buy French briefs rather than boxers in China or fruit and vegetables from the local market gardener rather than from thousands of kilometers away.

This is even truer for public and private buyers than you are.

Your orders weigh heavily in the balance and in our future.

We, managers of French micro-businesses and SMEs, are committed to transforming the profit generated by your purchases into jobs.

Because more than companies, we are citizens.
